On April 16, 2016 The Belize Federation of Fishers had its second Annual General Meeting. Fisherfolks from across the fishing communities namely Sarteneja, Chunox, Belize City, Dangriga, Hopkins, Independence, Monkey River, Punta Negra and Punta Gorda were present with there families. Well over 80 fisher-folks were in attendance.
The team for the second AGM was “Providing Lifetime Fishing for Members of the Federation Through Three Pillars, Legal, Environmental and Financial”
The guess speakers for this year AGM were the Executive Leaders themselves. The members felt that it was important for the guys to hear from the leaders of the BFF on current issues and future plans for the industry.
The leaders took questions from the members referencing current financial status of the Federation, The mega development happening out at Turneffe Marine Reserve, The Fisheries Legislation that has not been pass into law, Enforcement to name a few.
There were several power point presentations, skit and drama by the different associations including the Director. Special event were the Sarteneja Imaculada Infant two Division dancers who did three traditional Maya dance to entertain the members.
